The traditional last week of the summer movie season kicked off in fine fashion as the Eli Roth-produced Last Exorcism finished in a not-at-all-unimpressive close second place at the weekend box office. Find out how the rest of the week went, after the jump.

We kicked things off here with our TV critic Alyse Wax's review of the latest episode of True Blood: Season 3. But as True Blood draws to a close with next weekend's season finale, vamp fans are already gearing up for next week's season premiere of The Vampire Diaries. Here, to get you pumped, are our exclusive video interviews with the cast...

The big TV news this week was that Neil Gaiman's Sandman is in development, with former Supernatural producer Eric Kripke a likely candidate for showrunner.

Meanwhile, in exclusive movie news, we grabbed an interview with Repo! director Darren Lynn Bousman on his upcoming thrillers 11.11.11, Ninety and The Barrens.

Then our blogger Eric Stanze gave a firsthand account of his work on the upcoming documentary about The Making of Stakeland.

Did you check out our live broadcast of the Tokyo premiere of Resident Evil: Afterlife? If not, you can still experience it here.

On Wednesday, we snagged a shot of the first image from the upcoming remake of Fright Night -- former Doctor Who star David Tennant as the new reluctant vampire hunter Peter Vincent.

A new Let Me In viral clip hit the web this week. If you prefer not to hunt for it, you can check it out here

But the most awesome thing I've seen all week is the new trailer for Hobo with a Shotgun, starring Rutger Hauer.

The Hobo trailer is running before this weekend's big genre release, Robert Rodriguez's Machete. And, man, have we got a lot of Machete coverage. You can check out our review of the film, our clips and our interviews right here. Watch my exclusive video interviews with Rodriguez and his cast, including Machete himself, actor Danny Trejo, below...

If dark comedy is your cup of tea, be sure to watch the latest teaser trailer for our own upcoming Zombie Roadkill web series, featuring a most unusual 911 call...

(Visit the official Zombie Roadkill site for more.)

Lastly, don't forget to check out our recently relaunched FEARnet Gift Guide, and see what items we added this week.

Have a weird holiday weekend, folks!
