What's gonna scare you at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival? Looks like Kevin Smith's Red State, Lucky McKee's The Woman and Iwai Shunji's Vampire for starters. Full details below.

The 2011 Sundance Film Festival runs in Park City Utah from Jan 20th - 30th and over the past few days the first batch of competition films has officially been announced including Iwai Shunji's Vampire:

Vampire / Japan, Canada (Director and screenwriter: Iwai Shunji) - On the surface, Simon seems like a fairly normal, average young man, devoted to his teaching job and ailing mother. Secretly, he is compelled to hunt through online chat rooms and message boards, searching for the perfect girl who will ensure his own survival. Cast: Kevin Zegers, Keisha Castle-Hughes, Rachel Leigh Cook, Kristin Kreuk, Aoi Yu and Adelaide Clemens. World Premiere

Slash Film is also reporting that Kevin Smith intends to screen his latest flick, the horror outing Red State and possibly auction off distribution rights right after the screening. Smith tells Slash Film: 'If it gets into Sundance, my plan is to pick the RED STATE distributor right there – IN THE ROOM – auction style. Might even bring up a professional auctioneer to make it fun and unintelligible. And if you’re a multi-millionaire who can’t make it to the first screening of RED STATE, fear not: maybe we’ll set up an eBay page for the post-screening bid-calling as well'.

Now that's confidence.

Lastly, Shock Till You Drop is reporting that Jack Ketchum has also announced Lucky McKee's The Woman has been added to Sundance as well.
