LA-based alt-rock trio Vera Mesmer have premiered the video for “Back from the Dead” – the debut single from their upcoming EP of the same name –  and it's a moody, chillingly effective mini-movie that tells the first of many ongoing musical tales. The band describe themselves as “a sonic and literary depiction of the lost craft of storytelling and artistry,” and it looks they're off to a pretty good start with the visual side of things. Check out the clip after the flip!

The current lineup of frontman/guitarist (and Johnny Depp lookalike) Mr. Mesmer, bassist Nadja (formerly of Coal Chamber, who joined the band last year) and drummer Bones Elias spent the latter part of 2010 working on an album that will actually be split up into two separate EP releases – beginning with Back from the Dead and continuing with an as-yet-untitled sequel. The band describe the first half as “a six-song theatrical alt-rock storytelling with a series of videos and short stories to accompany the tales within the songs,” and it is tentatively slated for release this spring.

This is their first official music video, which launched over the weekend on the band's recently revamped official site and social pages (where you can also stream the song), and the news broke via Blabbermouth.net. The single & video are also downloadable from iTunes, and you can also viddy the clip right here...
