Tim Burton -- who's apparently in a race with Guillermo del Toro to see who can have a nervous breakdown first -- has just added another film project to his plate. The director has been recruited by actor Josh Brolin to work with him on a new film adaptation of Victor Hugo's classic novel The Hunchback of Notre Dame. More after the jump.
Though Burton has not yet decided to direct the film, The Hollywood Reporter states he's "interested, but his commitment is dependent on the outcome of the script." In any case, Brolin would star in the film and produce. (Considering his last role as a deformed genre hero was the horrible Jonah Hex; this news leaves me less than thrilled.)
"Warner Bros. is developing the project with the duo and is bringing on board scribes Kieran and Michele Mulroney, who wrote the upcoming Sherlock Holmes sequel for the studio."
Personally, I'd rather see one great Burton film every ten years than five half-hearted efforts. So I'd prefer the filmmaker keep his focus on Dark Shadows, The Adams Family, and the umpteen other projects he has on his plate right now.
