It's that time of year again! With E3 2011 just around the corner, developers and publishers are starting to release new media in advance of the conference. Hell, just look at today's deluge! One prime example is Konami, who held a positively massive press conference to announce plenty of exciting developments. Zone of Enders and Metal Gear Solid HD Collections! Contra Reboot! Whaaat? However, they had not one, not two, but three new announcements regarding their survival horror mainstay, Silent Hill. More after the break!
The first announcement, according to G4, was the development of Silent Hill: Book of Memories for Sony's upcoming portable system, the NGP. Nothing else was revealed except for the game's logo (see above) and that it promised to "take the series where it's never gone before." What, like that Wal Mart they finally put in Silent Hill? Now that would be scary.
The second announcement, also on G4, was the reveal of Silent Hill Collection, which features HD versions of Silent Hill 2 and 3. These HD remasters seemed to be a big part of Konami's catalog (see the aforementioned Zone of Enders and MGS collections) although unlike the other collections, no final platforms have been announced, although it's pretty safe to say that Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 will both be included.
The third and final reveal was the official E3 trailer for this winter's Silent Hill: Downpour. In Downpour, players assume the role of Murphy Pendleton, an escaped convict who picked the wrong town to escape to with his fellow convicts. Given Silent Hill's history of feeding off of the emotional baggage of its visitors, this almost guarantees that Downpour will be a deranged game. Who provided the trailer? You guess it! G4!
