Guitarist Scott Ian of legendary metallers Anthrax just keeps upping his horror credentials with every new announcement. Last month he made an appearance in comic-book monster form on the cover of Decibel magazine, and the band's first single "Fight 'em Til You Can't" is a zombie-themed song with cover art featuring the band going hand-to-hand against undead versions of themselves. Now Scott's taking the zombie thing to the ultimate extreme... well, maybe not the ultimate; as far as we know he doesn't actually munch on brains (yet). But it's the next coolest thing: Scott has told fans he'll be appearing on this fall's new season of AMC's The Walking Dead as a zombie. He also shared a closeup pic of himself in full makeup, which you can see below the jump!

"What have I wanted to do since 1978?" Ian tweeted to his fans recently. "Be a ZOMBIE!!!" he promised that more details would be coming soon... and true to his word, he followed up with a fantastic photo of himself in his zombie finest, taken on the Walking Dead set. No details yet which episode will include Ian's appearance, or how prominently he's featured in the show, but since his makeup is very detailed, chances are he'll be one of the "hero" zombies who get more camera time and/or tighter shots.

This is going to make this fall even sweeter that it already is for horror and metal fans: the release of Worship Music, the band's landmark 10th studio album, will arrive on September 13th, just one month before the debut of the zombie series' highly-anticipated second season. You can hear Anthrax's zombie-themed single on their official Facebook page, and you can also download the high-resolution version of zombie Scott at this link.
