Fantastic Fest Schedule and Guest Filmmakers Announced
In addition to its many movies, Fantastic Fest (for which FEARnet is a presenting sponsor) always has an impressive lineup of visiting filmmakers, and this year's event is shaping up to be no exception. The festival has just unveiled its lineup of films and filmmaking guests. More after the jump.
I'm especially stoked to report that this year's event will have repertory screenings of Lucio Fulci classics like House by the Cemetery and Zombie, as a well as a thirtieth anniversary screening of An American Werewolf in London with Hollywood's most Oscar-winningest monster maker, Rick Baker himself, in attendence. And there will be a 3D screening of that infamous '80s 3D western Comin' at Ya! with its cast present.
The sci-fi drama Melancholia, which made a big splash at Cannes, will be one of the higher-profile titles there. And no, I suspect director Lars von Trier will not be there. But Ti West will be, with hisThe Innkeepers; actor Dominic Monaghan will show up for The Day; Re-Animator star Barbara Crampton and actor A.J. Bowen will appear with You're Next; Tom Six with The Human Centipede 2; and Rider Strong with The Dungeon Master. Be sure to check out the official Fantastic Fest 2011 schedule for the full list of films. Hell, it's worth visiting just to learn that a movie has been titled Zombie Ass.
