Holy hot in hell! Dario Argento doing a musical? Well paint me red and call me bloody! According to Fangoria, back on March 3, composer Howard Shore is working on an opera version of David Cronenberg?s horror film THE FLY, for a 2007 premiere by the Los Angeles Opera. The project is a collaboration with Cronenberg and playwright/librettist David Henry Hwang, whose M. BUTTERFLY was the basis for Cronenberg?s 1993 feature. So get this, the buzz continues, we came across a website, profondorossomusical, announcing that Dario Argento will be artistic supervisor of a musical based on his classic giallo PROFONDO ROSSO a.k.a. DEEP RED! The site?s in Italian, but we can only gathor that the show will be directed by Marco Daverio, and a couple of Argento?s longtime collaborators: Claudio Simonetti will compose the music, based on themes he helped create for the movie as part of Goblin, and Sergio Stivaletti will apply his special FX wizardry to the production.
