Some Shocking news this morning, according to Timeout.com, UK-based distributor Tartan Video announced today that it is to cease the future supply of any copies of 'The Last Horror Movie' to retailers with immediate effect. They clam that it is so violent that it aided in the murders of two innocent people?
Time Out continues to tell us, the film, a disturbing and graphic story of an amateur film maker cum serial killer who distributes his own snuff films via a video rental store, has recently become embroiled in a murder trial at Reading Crown Court.
It was claimed that the alleged murderer, a teenage boy, had seen the film repeatedly over four days in the week prior to commiting the two murders.
A spokesman for Tartan said, 'In the light of such tragic events it is only right that Tartan ceases to profit from the sale of the film'.
'Whether there is any link between watching violent entertainment and committing of violent acts has never been proven, but we are taking these actions as a mark of respect for the families of all concerned'.
Tartan Films, who own Tartan Video are best known for distributing Asian horrors like 'Battle Royale' under the banner Tartan Asia Extreme. They have also increased their distribution of thrillers from other origins under their new brand Tartan Terror.
