What could have become a standard, paint by numbers, routine horror film evolved into something completely unexpected. ?When I first read the script,? says Bill Moseley, ?I thought awesome. It?s got great kills, it?s violent, its scary, all the ingredients are there.?

The recipe for a great horror film was evident, but the creative team behind FALLEN ANGELS wanted to take it a step further. ?My goal was to create something really subversive,? says writer/director Jeff Thomas. ?I wanted to create something that could scare people today and also scare their kids twenty years from now. It?s all about the narrative and making sure that the story has resonance for all people.? Moseley adds, ?There is a lot of nuance to this script. A lot of detail and a lot of really cool twists.?

Michael Berryman feels that what sets FALLEN ANGELS apart is how the story unfolds. ?Like any mystery, pieces of the puzzle come from all angles. In FALLEN ANGELS it is not only about the main characters and the prison location, but also about the entire town. Unlike many horror films, this one makes you think.? Reggie Bannister agrees. ?FALLEN ANGELS is definitely unique. It gives horror fans what they really want: bloody kills, nasty creatures, and an epic story. The red herrings in the story are especially superb.? R.A. Mihailoff adds that today ?horror fans are sold short. They are given lame remakes or watered down PG-13 scares or showcases for really awful CGI effects. With FALLEN ANGELS, they?ll get traditional hard core effects, so you know it will be bloody and look good, without the CGI garbage. Plus, you get an original story. Not since THE EXORCIST as a film so darkly examined faith and redemption in such an unsettling way. Horror fans will love it.? David Hess even adds, ?it really is a gift to horror fans. You have so many recognizable actors in great roles and the story really has teeth.?

Told as a CSI murder mystery, FALLEN ANGELS is a supernatural shocker that does not waste any time in delivering the gory goods with the spellbinding story. ?We?ve spilled so much blood on this film,? reveals special effects wizard Bob Keen, the man who brought Pinhead to life. ?It?s amazing but we?ve spilled more blood on FALLEN ANGELS than we did on the original HELLRAISER.? No stranger to nightmarish, latex denizens, Keen has brought his wildest and most horrifying creations to life with the FALLEN ANGELS menagerie of seven new demons.

Kane Hodder is quick to point out, ?The creatures are amazing. They?re the best demons since HELLRAISER.? Keen admits, ?it was tough. With so many demons in one film it was always difficult to consistently raise the bar.? As stunt coordinator as well, Hodder echoes that sentiment. ?We wanted each death scene to be more intense than the last, so by the time you get to the 12th kill, you have to pull out all the punches.? Moseley, whose character has a run in with Hodder?s, agrees. ?The death scenes were physically tough. The kills are vicious. We worked real hard to give the audience something different. I even had to learn to scream.?

?I?m probably one of the only women that has been in a horror film and not had to scream,? jokes Christie Hemme as she looks back on her performance as the demonic predator Lust. ?I was told that Bob Keen had created Jabba the Hutt and other great movie monsters-so I had no idea of what to expect. Once I saw the final version, I was blown away. It was creepy, ghastly, demonic and still had this raw sexuality about it.? Keen says with a smile, ?it was really my answer to all the Japanese horror films with ghostly females. We just made it really vicious and took it to the next level.?

As much of a character and perhaps as large as an icon as some of the cast, the prison location is the same penitentiary as used in THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, AIR FORCE ONE, and the Sci-Fi Channel?s Ghost Hunters. Plus, this prison is internationally recognized as one of the most haunted locations anywhere in the world. ?There really is this evil aura about it,? confides Moseley. ?The first time I arrived on set, I just stood there and stared at its architecture. Disparity just permeates from this place.? The prison?s history of hauntings and murder definitely ends up on the screen and then some. Director of photography Jon Darbonne adds ?that with careful lighting we just took the prison to a new dimension. I didn?t think it was possible, but we just made this place even more nightmarish and surrealistic.?

?There are so many poster shots in this film,? brags Keen. ?Whether it?s from the demons, the kills, or the action scenes, there are just so many signature scenes.? After coordinating a stunt scene where an actress is dangled over a six story cellblock in an attempt to escape a pursuing demon, Hodder agrees. ?It is a very fast moving film. It tells a dramatic story with a lot of emotion, but does so in an action packed way. I can?t tell you how many stunts we have done on this film.?

?It?s funny,? laughs Mihailoff as he removes the demon prosthetics from his body. ?Whether you want a CSI mystery or a disturbing drama with some very dark psychological and spiritual issues or a great creature feature with nasty kills-you?ll find it all in FALLEN ANGELS.?

?Ultimately, that?s what attracted me to the project,? reveals Michael Dorn. ?It?s a very clever mix of many things.? Berryman agrees, ?there?s really something here for everyone!?
