Third Times a Charm
Three Dario Argento news clips in a row? Yup! It?s a good Friday, no? The Third Mother panel at Fango Burbank held many pleasant surprises. Biggest surprise of all? The clips! Jealous much? Here?s the skinny. Co-writer Jace Anderson and actress Coralina Cataldi-Tassoni take the stage to discuss Argento?s Third Mother?and they let the clips roll. First series of scenes went by fast. There?s some nudity, people in robes, a monkey lowering himself from a rope, metal instruments in eyes?
Then the Q&A begins. Anderson explains how she and collaborator Adam Gierasch stayed at an apartment in Rome. They?d have long discussions with Argento in which he?d act out scenes from the film. They?d write and the pages would be translated into Italian and then back into English. Coralina describes her death scene as ?intense and covered in guts, Simonetti music was playing in the background and people were walking off the set it was so intense.? She also describes FX master Sergio Stivaletti as ?serious and meticulous on set.? Anderson says Argento ?deliberately ditched the Suspiria color theme but also goes on to tell us that he may have some tricks up his sleeve as far as the new films? look. She also says that Dario wants this to be his most violent film to date, and the next scene is proof positive of that.
Udo Kier, Asia Argento?s nightmare in which two topless girls are making out (wait?nightmare?) and then one of the most brutal female crotch stabbings I?ve ever scene. One final thrust and it?s through the entire body and out the mouth. No lie. What?s next for Jace? Autopsy, a film she describes as ?old fashioned doctors in hospital tearing up kids kind of movie.? While Coralina will be playing some concert dates with Claudio Simonetti in Rome. Anyone wanna go to Rome with me?
It?s been a while since I?ve looked forward to a movie as much as I am Argento?s Third Mother. Chills ran up my spine, it looks utterly fantastic and this film being released is an event.
