Near Death, a Carter Blanchard spec, has been picked up by Fox Searchlight along with Aaron Kaplan and Sean Perrone attached to produce. The film, a sci-fi psychological thriller, centers on a world filled with near death experiences. Hmmmm?sounds like Final Destination all over again.
According to hollywoodreporter.com, Claudia Lewis and Jeremy Steckler are overseeing the project for Searchlight.
Kaplan/Perrone Entertainment, which produced You, Me and Dupree, has several projects in development, including the supernatural thriller Knowing at Columbia Pictures and New Line Cinema's horror film Dead Asleep, which Blanchard penned.
Blanchard's writing credits also include Smoke for the Mayhem Project and the Immortals at Universal Pictures.
