Lowly Interns Get Taste of (Sweet) Comic Con Nerd Life
Even though us lowly interns didn't get to go to Comic Con International 2007 in San Diego this past weekend it was like we were almost there. Though we weren?t fortunate enough to actually physically attend and soak up the nerd sweat, scavenge for freebies, and run wild across the convention floor in search of our favorite celebs, we were there in spirit and reaped the benefits of glorious promotional items upon the FEARnet team's return. Our patience was rewarded as they came bearing an abundance of nerd gifts. We eagerly tore through the piles of post cards, buttons, stickers and posters (which, don?t get us wrong, we love) until we came upon the motherload of freebie gifts. Sprawled before us laid T shirts and hats, waiting to be worn, horror film themed playing cards waiting to be dealt, bags waiting to be sat in (see below), inflatable 300 "thunder sticks" waiting to be thrust into battle, and shiny crystal Star Wars junk, waiting to be coddled by a nerdy intern.

1. Star Wars Crystal Cube (VIP Giveaway at Lucas Afterparty)
Giaco's Favorite - As soon as I opened up the small blue box that this tiny crystal cube of joy was held in, I knew I was in love. The super-exclusive promo, given out mainly to V.I.P.'s and cast members at the Lucas afterparty, is a laser etched cube that has the writing "Happy 30th: Star Wars is Forever" set on top of an image of the original poster art. I'm not only a huge horror dork, I'm also a gigantic Star Wars dork, so this collector's item was a no brainer for me.
2. The Enormous Superman Doomsday Bag (WB Booth)
Gabnormal's Favorite - It's a big F#$@ing bag! Big enough for me to hide in while mourning the death of Superman and the release of what could potentially be a truly awful superhero cartoon.
3. Horror Themed Playing Cards (Fox Atomic Booth)
Skeleton Chuck's Favorite - Our old pal Skeleton Chuck loved these horror themed playing cards. With that impossible to read poker face of his, he really wiped us clean in an intense game of Texas Chainsaw Hold ?em Massacre.
4. 300 thunder sticks (VIP goodie bag at 300 DVD release party)
Unanimous Favorite - To be part of the ultimate top 5 freebies of Comic Con 2007, a freebie must possess the power to be positioned awkwardly against human body parts, used in a mid-day battle royale, make an annoying noise that reverberates through the entire office, and be inflatable. The thunder sticks of course met this criteria.
5. Balls of Fury Ping Pong Paddle and Balls (Rogue Pictures Booth)
