Mortenson to Travel ?The Road?

According to one of Viggo Mortenson?s reps, the actor, best known for his role of Aragorn in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, is in talks to star in the lead role of an adaptation of Cormac McCarthy?s best selling novel, The Road. John Hillcoat (The Proposition) will direct.
The film follows a man and his son as they travel through a post apocalyptic world. The specific devastation is not explained, but the father and son try to head to safer grounds, as people run wild killing and cannibalizing each other. Not a great environment to raise a child in, but what can you do?
