Sam Beyer gets ?Near Dark?

Sam Beyer is currently in talks to direct a remake of the cult vampire classic, Near Dark. The film is being produced by Platinum Dunes for Rogue Pictures. The remake, like the original, will focus on a man who has to join a group of vampires after he is wooed and bitten by one. Beyer?s previous directing history includes mainly music videos, as he directed Nirvana?s Smells like Teen Spirit. It seems like the hype alone for 30 Days of Night has revitalized the vampire genre.
