'Astro Boy' going 3D

Animation director Jakob Jensen is beginning his work on the famed Japanese manga Astro Boy. The new film, debuting in 2009, will be computer animated, and will attempt to introduce Japan?s most beloved character to the rest of the world with production company Imagi. Imagi will stay true to the story of Astro Boy, and retell the original story arc. The original manga, created by Osamu Tezuka, was first published in 1952. Jensen started at DreamWorks, and is now working in Hong Kong, despite the language barriers, to create something that he thinks will still ring true with the Japanese public, to whom Astro Boy is a cultural icon.
