Universal?s Freak Circus
Funnyman John C. Reilly has just been cast as lead vampire in Cirque du Freak, written, directed and co-produced by Paul Weitz. Contrary to widespread, pun-intended claims of Reilly ?sinking his teeth into the role? we?ve confirmed he actually just accepted it. He?ll play a vampire whose fourteen-year-old assistant becomes the liaison between the vampires and the ?Vampanese?. Based on a series of bestselling children?s novels by Darren Shan, this could be first act of a twelve-ring circus, since Universal obtained the rights to about a dozen of Shan?s books in 2005.
