Hot on the heels of his upcoming Sweeney Todd, director Tim Burton has made plans with Disney to helm two 3-D films?Alice in Wonderland and Frankenweenie. Alice will use Beowulf-esque performance-capture technology and live-action footage to tell Lewis Carroll?s famous tale. Frankenweenie will be based on the classic short film Burton produced about a dead dog brought back to life by his young owner (which can be found on The Nightmare Before Christmas DVD). The film will utilize stop-motion animation, as well as digital 3-D. Corpse Bride may have been less than satisfying, but Nightmare Before Christmas remains a great film; so there?s still cause to get excited about more Burton stop-motion projects.
