From Hollywood Reporter
Directorial and casting confirmations have finally come in on the new Dragonball movie, with James Marsters (Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer) playing Piccolo, the reformed green Namekian alien. Directing the film will be thriller vet James Wong, who wrote and directed Final Destination 1 and 3. Justin Chatwin will play Goku, the uber-hero and protector of earth. The film will supposedly follow Goku?s discovery that he?s actually a humanoid alien sent to Earth to destroy it. Since he?s so kind of heart (as all heroes are), Goku defends his home planet against an onslaught of alien baddies. If you weren?t like me growing up, and you didn?t spend most of your time geeking out to Dragonball, Dragonball Z and Dragonball GT, then this movie might sound like a fun, super-powered romp. (Then again it might sound like dental surgery.) But I?m way too worried about how they?ll pull this off, already grimacing over casting choices and hoping they stick to the storyline that started the franchise. Anyone care to Z-geek with me?
