Packed to the gills with extras, including five specially recorded episode prequels, Doctor Who: The Complete Sixth Series on Blu-ray is a must for all fans of producer Steven Moffat and star Matt Smith's run on the long-running show. Genre favorite, and longtime Doctor Who, fan Neil Gaiman finally arrived this season to write the charming "The Doctor's Wife"; and among the crop of new monsters, the creepy Silence were the standouts (though even the show's spin on the myth of the Siren in "The Curse of the Black Spot" was fun). Last year's "A Christmas Carol" is also included in this set, and it's arguably the show's best Christmas Special to date. Yes, there's a little too much River Song in this season, but Smith comes into his own in the title role, and his companions Amy and Rory (played by Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill) are given a refreshing amount of depth. Now if only an extended break wasn't taking place before the show's seventh season arrives.
