Exclusive: Motionless In White in the Studio

It's no secret that I'm kinda sweet on horror-themed metallers Motionless in White. Seriously, ever since we covered the arrival of their debut album Creatures in late 2010, I've seen this band take off like a demon hot on a virgin's scent – as evidenced by the response to their controversial music video "Immaculate Misconception," which premiered here back in November. This year the band's stepping into an even larger arena, with two Metal Hammer Golden Gods nominations (including Breakthrough Artist), a recent tour with Marilyn Manson and a new headlining run with Asking Alexandria. As if that weren't enough, the band is also back in the studio working on the sequel to Creatures, with acclaimed artist/producer Tim Skold (KMFDM, Marilyn Manson) at the boards for the first album sessions. Chris offered us a few choice updates, and we've got a studio shot after the jump that you won't see anywhere but FEARnet... so get in here and check it out!

Shown above is Chris (wearing the same wicked Bauhaus shirt that got my attention back in the day) and guitarist Ricky Horror during the initial recording sessions with Skold, which Chris has described as "an amazing, all-consuming, exhausting, inspiring, insane experience." The second half of the album will be tracked in a different studio in mid-April, with Jason Suecof (Charred Walls of the Damned) producing.

"The new album is coming along great," Chris told FEARnet. "I think a lot of people are going to be shocked and really excited about some of the new stuff we're trying... there's a lot of things I wanted to accomplish musically, and Tim understood every idea I had and was able to help make it all one big package of awesome. Tim has his own sound as a producer, which is why I wanted to work with him. Fortunately we were able to accomplish exactly what I wanted."

Chris is keeping most of the album details under wraps for now, but hinted that the project continues many of the themes found in Creatures: "It's still really pissed off and has an attitude to it... that's MIW's style. I'm really pumped for people to hear this shit." The drop date is not firmed up yet, but Chris said "we're looking at the fall. We just want to make sure everything is as perfect as it can be."

According to Chris, the first single and possibly an accompanying video may arrive sometime this summer, so we'll be hanging tight for that. But in the meantime, dig the band's latest music video "Puppets (The First Snow)" featuring live footage of the band from last summer's Vans Warped Tour...

UPDATE: Another FEARnet fave, Celldweller, has applied his master mixology skills to the title track from Creatures. It's available right now as an iTunes exclusive. Check it out below!
