SD Comic-Con 2012: Exclusive -- Nina Dobrev on ‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 4

Spoiler alert! Stop here if you haven’t watched the season 3 finale of The Vampire Diaries. You say you have? Continue reading then… The biggest turning point in the hit Warner Brothers TV show was reached in the last scene of The Vampire Diaries third season, with Nina Dobrev’s Elena having, at long last, followed her character’s path in the books on which the series is based –- by becoming a vampire. But does Elena’s new life affect her love life? Just moments before turning, Elena pledged her love to Stefan, and chose him over his bad-boy brother Damon. Will the fact that she might now spend an eternity with someone, as opposed to a lifetime, make her reconsider that choice? On Saturday at Comic-Con, I asked the actress who plays Elena, Nina Dobrev, these questions…

“It’s funny you should ask,” said Dobrev. “I don’t know what’s going to happen. But she was in an accident –- is she going to remember that she made that decision at all? Does her decision change now that she has eternity? Does it change because she’s a vampire? Does it change because she’s going to change as a person? I was saying on the panel that, based on your experiences, you grow and evolve all the time. So just because you make one decision now doesn’t mean that it’s for life, or for eternity.”

“It’s gonna be different,” hinted Dobrev of her character’s transformation into a vampire, “but we’re definitely gonna see it happen. It’s not just gonna get blown over. We’re filming it and it’s going to be intense, and it’s going to be pretty epic.”
