Spoke with Marcus Dunsten and Patrick Melton (SAW, The Collector) this morning and couldn't resist asking them for an update on their remake of the Vincent Price/William Castle classic, The Tingler.

Marcus Dunsten: Y'know that keeps coming up, The Tingler was a really fun project the script is done (that we did) and whether it comes out in that version or another incarnation I don't know, but what we delivered was a really adult kinda horror thriller and if the marketplace is willing to accept that great, but it just may not.

If it were up to you, who would you cast in the Vincent Price role?

Well, you know who kinda took the mantle already was Geoffrey Rush. I mean, he's just perfect, when he stepped into the roles in the Dark Castle films that were really fantastic. But I'm wondering if there isn't that out of left field person (pauses) like Sam Rockwell! That would be genius! Y'know, because he's such a dark horse.

Patrick Melton: For that project Columbia wanted to make a monster movie and they were all gung ho about it. We stayed very close to the original in terms of the set up and all the characters being a little bit older and I think they didn't quite get it. So when they had some success with younger projects like Prom Night, their instincts said, we should make this younger. It takes place in a medical setting, so they wanted to place it in a medical school but that didn't ring very true to us. I don't know what kind of success they've had, but we had a great script, hopefully it'll come back once we've had other types of success, which we've had. It was in the vein of Alien, creating these creatures that seem real and scary.
