Neil Marshall and his wife, actor Axelle Carolyn, have teamed up on a couple of notable projects, namely Marshall's enormously entertaining (and, in this writer's opinion, criminally underrated) Doomsday and Centurion. But the talented couple is taking their creative relationship to another level with their next film -- which will mark Carolyn's directorial debut and Marshall's first turn as a producer. For the full details, read my recent chat with the duo after the jump.
Can you give us the status on your next project? I know you can't say much.
Marshall: The only reason I can't say much is because I don't know what is the next project. I'm still working on Burst, and I have no idea when that's actually gonna shoot, but we are progressing on that quite rapidly now. So, I think Burst is gonna be the next one, but we'll see.
The script is still in development?
Marshall: Yes.
Are there any side projects you can talk about?
Marshall: The other thing I'm doing at the moment is I'm having a go at producing for the first time. And that's Axelle‘s movie. She's directing. Are we gonna tell him what it's called?
Carolyn: Yeah. It used to be called Ghost of Slaughterford and we changed the title to The Haunted. That hasn't really been announced yet. But we are casting the film at the moment. Trying to set the dates. It's pretty much ready to go. We're just hoping to get the most amazing cast. And get started in the next couple of months.
Can you describe the story?
Carolyn: Sure. It's a ghost story. It's a story of a woman. It takes place in the mid 40s after the war. She moved out to the countryside because she just lost her husband. Then she realizes that the house that she's renting is haunted. And then stuff happens. [Laughs.]
Marshall: A strange relationship forms.
Carolyn: Yeah. My weird pitch was somewhere between The Others meets Fatal Attraction and Don't Fear the Reaper.
