In his typically refined and understated fashion, GWAR frontman Oderus Urungus just made a bold proclamation on the band's official blog about the outcome of his recent wrestling match with IWA baddie Tracy Smothers. Beneath the headline “URUNGUS GRABS VICTORY -- CHOKES TRACY SMOTHERS THE F*** OUT,” the almighty keeper of the Cuttlefish of Cthulhu made it pretty damn clear he PWND his mouthy, fan-bashing nemesis in record time. UK's monolithic metallers Cradle of Filth have announced the imminent arrival of their coolest chunk of swag ever: an epic tome entitled The Gospel of Filth: The Definitive Guide to the Realms of Darkness and Devilry. More than a document of the band's tumultuous history, the upcoming volume is something altogether different – described by the band as “the boldest, most comprehensive and authoritative guide to the realms of darkness and devilry ever published.” That's a pretty tall order, even for a group that spends a helluva lot of time exploring the dark side (and the rest of the time at the pub). Frontman Dani Filth and his creepy crew did manage to reveal some details about the book on their blog, and we've got a little taste ahead for the morbidly curious... in other words, most of you reading this. So what are you waiting for, Christmas?

The musical style of Sweden’s Diablo Swing Orchestra is pretty hard to pin down, since it lives somewhere in the netherworld between gothic metal, grand opera and swing jazz… and the band’s tale of their mythical 16th-century origins muddies the waters even more. But whatever you want to call them, you can’t argue they’re unique, imaginative, and maybe a little crazed. After a long wait, their new album Sing-Along Songs For the Damned and Delirious is nearly ready for the outside world… the real question being, is the outside world ready for them? Find out more after the jump!
The titular creature from The Creature from the Black Lagoon made quite an entrance at Universal Studios Hollywood today, escaping from his aquarium and armed guards (terrorizing journalists and photographers along the way) in order to (what else?) sing and dance in his own musical extravaganza. California's hardest-working horror rockers Creature Feature have been turning out excellent tunes about cannibals, zombies, psychos and aliens for a couple of years now... but as frontman Curtis RX told us last fall, there have been so many other eerie experiments simmering in the band's laboratory of doom – screenplays, short stories, poems, artwork, webisodes, and so on – most of which come out of their nefarious production company, Last Man On Earth. In fact, so much stuff is brewing up in there that the band will very soon be revamping (pun intended) their official site. But in the meantime, Curtis also had to start up his own blog just to redirect the tide of creepy content. More on that action below the fold!

The King of Pop is no longer with us. As newspapers, news shows and websites everywhere are reporting (among them Variety), music legend Michael Jackson passed away today at the age of 50. While most know Jackson as the creative force behind hit singles like "Beat It" and "Bad", I, like most genre fans, have fond memories of the singer-dancer for two music videos/short films in which he starred during his heyday in the 1980s – Captain Eo and Thriller.
Danish electronic musician Claus Larsen – better known to rivetheads as the man behind pioneering electro-industrial outfit Leæther Strip – has completed his music score for the horror anthology film Dark Passages. Larsen has come forward with some interesting background on the project, which he describes as “one of my biggest dreams come true,” and we’ve got some pretty cool info below the fold…

Finally, the brutal time-travelling anti-hero of those segments has stepped up his game for a full-length video that just premiered on MTV2. Turns out you can also see it right here, so hit that jump and viddy well!
