‘Batman: Arkham Origins’ Collector’s Edition Will Leave You with a Full Shelf and an Empty Wallet

WB Games is has gone one step forward and two steps back over the course of the Arkham series’ collector’s editions, with the original Arkham Asylum coming in a violin-sized case holding a disappointingly lame batarang, and Arkham City packing an artbook and scads of digital goodies in a svelte, statue-topped box.

For the upcoming Batman: Arkham Origins, WB Games is laughing at your shelf space or need to store things besides giant goddamn box sets, with a collector’s edition so frigging huge it defies all logic…but I still want it bad.

For $120 (Jesus H. Christ!) you get, according to Joystiq, two pieces of evidence from the Gotham Crime Lab, an 80-page art book, a wanted poster of the Dark Knight, blueprints of the Batwing, an Anarky logo stencil (for easy nerd tagging), a glow-in-the-dark map of Gotham City, a photo of the Wayne family in happier times, and dossiers on the 8 assassins contracted to take down Batman by none other than Black Mask.

The real kicker, however, is the absolutely massive statue of the Joker, measuring in at 9 inches tall, 13 inches wide, and 11 and a half inches deep, and featuring a wall of LED-lit televisions.  As if this glowing, girl-repelling monstrosity wasn’t enough, the box set also includes Necessary Evil, a documentary narrated by Christopher Lee discussing the rogues’ gallery of DC Comics villains through the decades.  All of this comes in a box that will make your IKEA furniture groan in pain.  However, if necessary, one could build a decent-sized efficiency apartment using the three Arkham Collector’s Editions as walls.

Batman: Arkham Origins will be released October 25th 2013 for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
