Adding to their slate of current creepers like Psychic Kids and Paranormal State, A&E has picked up a new supernatural reality series for an initial six-episode run. Paranormal Cops sounds like a mash-up of Hill Street Blues and Ghostbusters – or maybe just Kolchak: The Night Stalker without a budget: Chicago cops walk a normal beat by day, but investigate “out-of-the-ordinary mysteries by night.” Which I think is “norm” talk for poltergeists, werewolves, vampires, and maybe even an alien or two.
No airdate has been set, but Variety.com reports that Paranormal Cops is meant as a companion piece to their current hit, Paranormal State. State – which follows the Paranormal Research Society as it investigates ghosts (without the aid of badges or guns) – will begin its third season January 19th.
