That’s right, everyone’s two favorite brawling baddies are heading back into the pit…and a movie camera is nowhere in sight! Hell yeah! A press release from SEGA announced that they are returning to the badass-in-theory, horrible-in-cinematic-execution franchise with UK developers Rebellion, who crafted the original AvP game on the PC way back in 1999. This was followed up by a sequel developed by Monolith (the guys who brought you F.E.A.R. and Condemned) in 2001. Technically, there was also an AvP title on the Atari Jaguar, but who the hell played that? The new game, currently titled Aliens Versus Predator (imagine that!), is due out in early 2010...but the press release from SEGA hides a far more sinister truth.
In short SEGA has “strategically updated the release of the other upcoming Aliens titles currently in development within its portfolio.” Roughly translated, it means that the original promise that Gearbox’s Aliens: Colonial Marines may not see its originally promised 2009 release window. Way to ruin the mood, guys.
