'American Horror Story' Nearly Shut-Out of Emmy Awards

Even though genre programming dominates the television listings these days, it did not dominate the Prime Time Emmy Awards. American Horror Story was the only genre show nominated for a major award, with the exception of Dexter, which scored a Best Actor nomination for Michael C. Hall. He did not win. AHS had a half-dozen nominations for major awards (acting and Best Miniseries) but only took home one, a Best Supporting Actress award for Jessica Lange. Her stellar performance as Constance, plus her Golden Globe win back in January for the same role made her a shoo-in.

At last week's Creative Arts Emmy Ceremony, AHS won for Best Hairstyling for a Miniseries. Naturally, The Walking Dead picked up a Best Prosthetics awards in the same ceremony.
