No more funny business for Mr. Ashton Kutcher? First, The Guardian and now his upcoming thriller Lakeview Terrace. Maybe Kutcher’s Punk’d days are over?
According to Hollywood Reporter, Neil LaBute is in negotiations to direct and Ashton Kutcher is in talks to co-star in Screen Gems' thriller Lakeview Terrace.
Samuel L. Jackson and Kerry Washington already have boarded the project, which centers on an LAPD officer (Jackson) who will stop at nothing to force out the interracial couple that recently moved in next door. Kutcher would play Washington's spouse. David Loughery wrote the screenplay, and Howard Korder has been tapped to pen a rewrite.
Shooting will begin in June in Los Angeles.
Will Smith and James Lassiter are producing through their Sony-based Overbrook Entertainment shingle. Loughery and Jeff Graup are executive producing.
Scott Strauss is shepherding the project for Screen Gems.
LaBute, whose film helming credits include In the Company of Men and Nurse Betty, most recently directed the Nicolas Cage starrer The Wicker Man. He is repped by ICM, manager Brad Gross and attorney Kevin Kelly.
Kutcher's recent credits include the ensemble drama Bobby and the thriller The Guardian. He also lent his voice to Sony Pictures' animated family comedy Open Season. He is handled by Endeavor, Untitled Entertainment and attorneys Robert Offer and David Weber.
