The Japanese classic Battle Royale and its sequel are finally hitting blu-ray in North America. Controversial since its debut in 2000, Battle Royale imagines a not-too-distant future where the economy has collapsed, so to thin the herds, every year a class of school children is chosen at random to hunt each other until there is only one survivor. The film will be released in two sets: just Battle Royale on blu-ray and DVD, or a three-disc set (blu-ray and DVD) which includes Battle Royale, Battle Royale 2, and a supplementary disc. Both versions release on March 20th. Hit the jump for all the details.
