Behemoth Reveal 'Evangelia Heretika' Details

We told you a few weeks ago that Behemoth – Poland's reigning kings of “blackened death metal” – would be releasing their long-awaited DVD/CD set Evangelia Heretika this fall, and the band has finally unveiled the full details of the three-disc audiovisual opus in all its satanic majesty. We've compiled that info below the fold, including a promo clip with excerpts from the DVD... so dig in and enjoy!

Behemoth has been in the news a lot lately – most of it good (proclaiming the international success of their album Evangelion, for example), but some of the latest updates have been unfortunate: vocalist Adam “Nergal” Darksi has been diagnosed with a form of leukemia, and had to cancel his upcoming tour appearances in order to undergo treatment. The good news is Nergal's a fighter, and he's also been able to rally the band's fans in support of bone marrow donation to help others with the same condition. You can find out more about how to donate at this link.

Knowing the challenges he's faced, you can understand what Nergal means when he says the band has “been through hell and back to make this release happen.” He praised the team's efforts in his latest band update, revealing that this set contains around five hours' worth of “essential Behemoth.”

The DVD content is comprised of the band's 2008 Paris Show and a 2009 concert in Warsaw, plus the band's entire video catalog (including the clips Ov Fire and the Void and Alas Lord Is Upon Me, both of which popped up on FEARnet earlier this year) and the documentaries Evangelia Nova and De Arte Heretika, containing interviews and behind-the-scenes footage. The audio content from the Warsaw show is also included on an additional CD. The live sets span the entirety of the band's career, including songs like Slaves Shall Serve, Prometherion, As Above So Below, Conquer All and At the Left Hand Ov God.

Evangelia Heretika is slated for US release on November 9th from Metal Blade Records, who set up a mini-site to promote it. The site includes pre-ordering info and a trailer, which you can also watch right here...
