At last year's DragonCon, gothic rockers Bella Morte teamed up with Lloyd Kaufman and the notorious Troma team, where the beginnings of an extremely twisted video for the track In the Dirt! began to stir in their collectively demented imaginations. More footage was shot this year, and band finally got to post the finished product on their official site. It's a gory, slimy, ultra-violent mashup of live performance, backstage antics, and the sickest moments from three decades' worth of sleazy cinematic anti-classics. Grab a handy barf-bag, hit the jump and check it out!
The popular Virginia-based band performed the track from their hit album Beautiful Death – which got a favorable review here on FEARnet back in the day – at the 2009 convention, and in the new video that footage is intercut with some bizarre appearances from Troma superhero The Toxic Avenger (who terrorizes numerous fanboys and pummels the band), along with a montage of gory highlights from the studio's massive movie catalog.
Cult horror buffs will enjoy some splatterific moments from Bloodsucking Freaks, Tromeo and Juliet, Cannibal! The Musical, and countless more... including, of course, ol' Toxie himself. The project is also affectionately dedicated to the late, great Ronnie James Dio, which is a nice touch.
Exercise caution if you're watching this in the workplace, the way... but if the coast is clear, get ready to get In the Dirt!
