Columbia Pictures have purchased remake and sequel rights to cult monster mash Big Man Japan. The flick hit it big in its homeland in 2007, and is currently streaming on Netflix. The American version is being scripted by Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi (Clash of the Titans, Aeon Flux). More after the jump.
Big Man Japan is set in a world inhabited by giant, bizarre, and violent monster (so in other words... Japan). Big Man Japan is the head of the Monster Protection Agency, but in saving the townsfolk, he often causes more damage than the monsters themselves (ain't that always the way?).
I am not confident about an American remake. Cult flicks don't have a great track record as far as remakes, and can you really recapture the bizarre monsterama that is Big Man Japan? Plus, Clash of the Titans sucked. Check out the original before you see the remake, please.
