'Cause Sam Raimi sure does. Oscar-winning actress Rachel Weisz is currently in negotiations to play evil witch Evanora in Raimi's take on The Wizard of Oz for Disney (sidenote: can you believe Mr. Evil Dead is doing a Disney film?). We've got plot details and more after the break.
Hollywood Reporter is calling Oz: The Great and Powerful a "prequel-ish" take on classic Oz. Evanora is the evil witch, bent on dominating Oz and dragging sister Theodora (played by Black Swan's Mila Kunis) to the dark side. Also cast in the project is James Franco as Oz, but not the Oz you are thinking of. Franco's Oz is "a snake oil salesman who finds himself dealing with real magic when his balloon carries him into a fabled land and he runs into genuine witches."
Weisz is probably best known to FEARnet readers for her breakout role in The Mummy. She starred in Darren Aronofsky's The Fountain and won an Oscar for The Constant Gardner.
