Earlier this year, we waded ears-deep into the bloodbath that was Grim Scary Tales, the latest epic effort from "murder metal" masters Macabre. That album raised the bar for brutal tunes about real-life mass murder – a bar which this band has already set pretty damn high over the past 25 years. The trio has just announced their intention to release the album on a limited-edition vinyl picture disc, an event which coincides with a major North American summer tour. We've got more details, including a preview of the disc artwork, below the jump. Check it out!
As shown here, the 12-inch LP artwork reproduces Scott Jackson's excellent blood-drenched portrait of Vlad the Impaler and his many victims, with a picture of the always heavily-armed band on the flipside. Macabre will release a limited pressing of the picture discs on on July 25th, and they're taking preorders now at their official webstore.
This release comes just one day after the kickoff of Macabre's summer "Gore Tour" – which includes a headlining gig at the Central Illinois Metalfest, with support from other extreme metal acts like Nachtmystium, Embalmer and the charmingly-named Nunslaughter. After that, the band plans to "invade sectors of the Midwest and Western North America," with more venues to be announced soon.
