MercurySteam’s Castlevania: Lords of Shadow was a smart reboot of the series, cherry picking decades worth of lore and stitching it together into a Frankenstein’s monster that gave new life to the long-running series. Not the most game-appropriate metaphor, but it’s what I’ve got.
The final game in the trilogy, Lords of Shadow 2 (Mirror of Fate filled in the gap last year) features a rather impressive voice cast, including the likes of Robert Carlyle (28 Weeks Later, Trainspotting), Patrick Stewart (duh), Natascha McElhone (The Truman Show, Californication), Richard Madden (Game of Thrones), and Jason Isaacs (Harry Potter), joined by a troupe of lesser-known but no less impressive actors and actresses. The game looks to tie up all of the loose ends of the series, including Gabriel Belmont’s fall from grace, the significance of Alucard, and Zobek’s final role in his friend Gabriel’s fate.
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 will be released February 25th for Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC.
