Our treasure hunt for rare and unusual horror toys takes us all the way to Japan this week for one of the coolest Friday the 13th action figures we've seen lately. While this 5-inch figure of Jason Voorhees from Kaiyodo's “Sci-Fi Revoltech” line is quite a bit smaller than what you're accustomed to from companies like MacFarlane or NECA, he's incredibly detailed, with revolving ball-jointed articulation, and loaded up with enough cool gear to make this a must for any dedicated horror toy collector.
Tomopop.com captured a fantastic gallery of images for their review of the Kaiyodo figure, which represents the company's first slasher-themed movie license. As you can see, Jason's fondness for bladed weapons is well-satisfied in the accessory tray, which not only includes his preferred machete, but also an axe, smaller hatchets (one bloody, one clean), pitchfork, saw and pickaxe. Alternate heads are provided, including a whole and “axed” version depicting the gnarly damage he sustained in the fourth film. He's also got alternate hands to grip the various implements... and one of those hands is swinging a recent victim's head! A base with some tiny campground items makes for a nice mini-diorama.
Unlike our previous week's featured toys, this figure is still retailing, albeit as an import. It's currently running for a bit under $30 (not including shipping) from Hobby Link Japan.
