Once upon a time -- years before Twilight -- there was a vampire book series called Vampire Diaries.  These novels languished in near-obscurity until young, sexy vamps became stylish again.  Now, Variety is reporting that the CW, knowing a good thing when they see it, has snatched up this franchise, and ordered a pilot for their fall schedule.

The tale concerns a beautiful young princess (a.k.a. -- a chick) who falls for a pair of handsome princes (a.k.a. -- vampire brothers).  One is good, the other is bad.  Both are locked in a battle for the fair maiden's hand (a.k.a. -- soul), and the kingdom (a.k.a. -- the small town they reside in).  The CW brought in Kevin Williamson (I Know What You Did Last Summer, Scream) and Julie Plec (Kyle XY, Scream) to executive produce and write.

And they all lived happily ever after...
