'Dead Rising: Chop (Features) Till You Drop'

Just in case you were one of the few people with the slightest modicum of interest in Capcom’s Wii-powered Dead Rising Remake Chop Till You Drop, direct your interest to this forum thread on The Capcom Unity blog, where poster Cheaptrickfan_100 quotes an article in the latest issue of Nintendo Power regarding Chop’s rather neutered feature list.

In a nutshell, all the things that made Dead Rising so fun and unique on the Xbox 360 are being yanked out by the root.  Sure, some changes are good (no time limits, multiple save files), but I can only carry one melee weapon at a time?  And there are fewer zombies?  And Frank can no longer jump?

Perhaps the biggest sting, though, is that Capcom is completely excising the photography element from the game…the game where you play a freaking photojournalist!  So basically, DR has been reduced from a deliciously fun, original classic to a hollow sandbox brawler with waggle controls.

 I really don’t know what the hell they’re thinking on this one, but I guess we’ll all find out on February 24th when Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop is released for the Nintendo Wii.  Until then, I’ll be playing the original and trying not to short out the Xbox controller with bitter tears.
