In a press release issued today EA has announced that EA Red Shores, developer of the hit game Dead Space and the upcoming Dante’s Inferno, has undergone a name change to reflect their brutal design philosophy that we all love so much: Visceral Games...
Glen Schofield, VP/GM of the newly redubbed division commented “Action, intensity, excellence. It isn’t just in our DNA, it’s in our blood. For the past two years, we have adopted a new culture that prizes excellence above all else. Primal action is the beating heart of the studio and now our new name reflects that.” Well, it certainly reflects better than Basketful of Puppies Studios or Eskimo Kiss Games.
In addition to Dante’s Inferno, Visceral is also working on Dead Space: Extraction, a Wii-based “guided first person shooter” set before the events of the hit space scarefest, as well as two other “unannounced titles.” Given the company’s pedigree and new name, I doubt that either will involve the Berenstain Bears.
