V/H/S was a new take on the found-footage horror genre. Built as an anthology film and based on the premise of a bunch of kids finding stacks of old VHS videos with some truly horrible footage on them, it harkened back to the days of VHS bootlegs (when you had to work for your bootlegs, not just download by the hundreds) and mondo films that walked a very fine line between real and faked footage.
A sequel, V/H/S/2, is in the works, and it is bringing some genre heavy-hitters into the fold. Hollywood Reporter announced that Eduardo Sanches (The Blair Witch Project, Lovely Molly) and Gareth Evans (The Raid) have signed on for the sequel. They join previously announced Jason Eisner (Hobo With a Shotgun), Adam Wingard (A Horrible Way to Die), Simon Barrett (in his directorial debut), and Timo Tjahjanto (Macabre). The structure is reported to be similar to the first V/H/S, this time with investigators discovering a stash of tapes while looking for a missing kid.
