Eli Roth is finally returning to the director's chair after over five years away. His next project? The Green Inferno. We'll tell you what we know after the jump.
Co-written with Guillermo Amoedo, the details on The Green Inferno are being kept under wraps. All Roth will says is that it was "inspired by filming in Chile." He most recently starred in Aftershock, an earthquake thriller set in - wait for it - Chile. Roth co-wrote Aftershock with - wait for it - Amoedo. See, it's all an intricately woven tapestry.
Anyway, with a title like The Green Inferno, it seems safe to say that it will take place in the Chilean rainforest, as that is a common moniker given to jungles. So if it is set in the jungle, could it be a creature feature like Anaconda? A supernatural thriller like The River? Another entry into Hostel territory? Perhaps a cannibal flick like Cannibal Holocaust? We haven't seen a good cannibal flick in a long, long time. What do you think?
Production starts this fall in Peru and Chile.
