Writer-producer David Allison is faced with the task of coming up with creepy ghost stories on a weekly basis for his BBC-America series Bedlam (which focuses on the living and dead residents of a haunted old mental asylum that's been converted into an apartment complex). Fortunately, Allison is fueled by a lifelong love of ghost stories and haunted house movies. After the jump, check out Allison's picks for the top 5 ghost movies of all time.
"1.) Absolutely without question The Shining. That's the best film ever made; don't want to hear anything else about it. [Laughs.] 2.) I love Dario Argento's Suspiria. That's a really crazy film. I love the craziness of that. 3.) I love the original Japanese Ring. I think that's an amazing film. 4.) The Suicide Club, I think that's a fantastic film. A really, really eerie film. 5.) The film that influenced me growing up – I remember watching it as a teen and really thinking, 'Wow' – was The Amityville Horror. It's quite shocking in some ways, but it really had a massive impact on me... That's a funny old bunch, but there you go!"
