Writer-director Scott Derrickson's Sinister (due out on October 5, 2012) was one of the most talked about thrillers at SXSW 2012, where it got a positive reponse from those of us here at FEARnet who saw the film, as well as most critics, including our own Scott Weinberg. In fact, as I write this, Sinister has a one-hundred percent rating at Rotten Tomatoes. The tale of a true-crime novelist (played by Ethan Hawke) whose search for new material brings him, and his family, face-to-face with a supernatural entity, the film is produced by Blumhouse's Jason Blum; who knows more than a thing or two about domestic contact with the paranormal -- having produced both Paranormal Activity and Insidious. After the jump, check out the film's chilling new motion poster.
Here's the official synopsis for Sinister: "Sinister is a frightening new thriller from the producer of the Paranormal Activity films and the writer-director of The Exorcism of Emily Rose. Ethan Hawke plays a true crime novelist who discovers a box of mysterious, disturbing home movies that plunge his family into a nightmarish experience of supernatural horror."
