After departing from his long-time gig with iconic nu-metallers Korn, Brian “Head” Welch set out on his own solo career, and eventually brought together a complement of musicians to launch a full band named Love and Death. The new project fuses the unmistakably heavy guitar sound that Welch and James “Munky” Shaffer brought to Korn with a 21st-century cyber-metal groove inspired by the backgrounds of his own newly-recruited band members.

Welch sat down with FEARnet to talk about the evolution of that project, the development of their initial EP Chemicals and the subsequent full-length album Between Here & Lost (which includes a wicked metalized cover of Devo's “Whip It”), the horror movies that inspired his songwriting, the professional horror makeup the band sometimes wears, and reuniting with Korn in the near future!

His story is really inspiring, seeing him reconnect with Korn after 8 years is pretty special, I think Korns very much still a solid unit and I love there older material! Some of there recent albums haven't really moved me as much as there older music though! But with Head back in the picture...Expect Great thing's! But we are still one man short, I love Ray in the band as much as anyone else, But fans want a proper reunion, they wanna see David behind the kit!
