After departing from his long-time gig with iconic nu-metallers Korn, Brian “Head” Welch set out on his own solo career, and eventually brought together a complement of musicians to launch a full band named Love and Death. The new project fuses the unmistakably heavy guitar sound that Welch and James “Munky” Shaffer brought to Korn with a 21st-century cyber-metal groove inspired by the backgrounds of his own newly-recruited band members.

Welch sat down with FEARnet to talk about the evolution of that project, the development of their initial EP Chemicals and the subsequent full-length album Between Here & Lost (which includes a wicked metalized cover of Devo's “Whip It”), the horror movies that inspired his songwriting, the professional horror makeup the band sometimes wears, and reuniting with Korn in the near future!
