Hot on the heels of the new release from his Southern Gothic band Bourbon Crow, horror-rocker and Murderdolls frontman Wednesday 13 is assembling yet another spinoff project – this time returning to his old-school rock roots with the creation of new outfit Gunfire 76. He’s shared some dates and details about the band in a recent announcement, and we’ve got the best bits below (so to speak)…
Gunfire 76 is the collaboration between Wednesday and Todd Youth, the latter of Danzig and Chelsea Smiles, who came up with the idea while touring together. “Todd Youth and I would find ourselves discussing the bands we grew up on and decided to put a band together that fits more of the rock n roll sound of Kiss, Dead Boys, New York Dolls, The Stooges and the in-your-face rock ‘n’ roll sound,” Wednesday declared. The “76” in the name likely refers to the artist’s own birthday.
The two plan on entering the studio in LA on July 1st, with Howard Willing as producer. The album is tentatively scheduled for release this October, and Wednesday says a promotional tour is already in the works. “We are currently booking a US/UK tour for the end of the year with Bullets and Octane,” he reports. “I have always wanted to tour with those guys, but the Wednesday 13 music never fit their rock and roll style. Together this should be one great rock show!”
Updates will be coming soon to Gunfire 76’s new official MySpace.
