Fantastic Fest, the largest genre film festival in the US, along with their annual hosts at the world-famous Alamo Drafthouse and the folks at Badass Digest, have launched “Intergalactic Fantastic Filmmaking Frenzy Bumper Contest 3013 A.D” in a quest to find the most bizarre, shocking and entertaining promo videos to screen along with the films at this year's festival.
One of the memorable highlights from past Fantastic Fests has been their annual collection of fan-made bumper segments, which screen before the films and often get as many laughs and gasps as the movies themselves. Each year the programming committee opens up a new contest in search of the most memorable entries, and the 2013 contest has now officially opened its doors. There are only three ground rules for entries:
- The video should reflect this year's theme “Intergalactic Fantastic”
- Running time must be between 15 and 45 seconds
- The final line of dialog or narration must be “That's fantastic!”
The chosen bumpers will be shown throughout the festival, which this year runs from September 19th to the 26th at the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin, TX. While they are seeking as many bumpers as possible for variety, there will be five favorites chosen, with the Grand Prize winner selected by the audience. That winner will receive two VIP badges to Fantastic Fest 2014 and lots of exclusive goodies.
Deadline for entries is 11:59pm Central Time on September 10th. Go to filmmakingfrenzy.com for complete contest info, but watch this trailer first!
