Brandon Cronenberg, son of acclaimed auteur David Cronenberg, is premiering his first feature film Anitviral at the Cannes Film Festival this week. And true to the Cronenberg legacy, it's already got people talking about its nightmarish depiction body horror. Watch the first official clip from the film after the jump.
The above clip comes to us from Rope of Silicon, which remarks that "Antiviral has not yet been picked up for domestic distribution, but it will be, even if it has to wait to be screened in Toronto where I'm sure either IFC Midnight or Magnolia will snatch it up. Don't worry, you'll see it, and Cronenberg fans… you're going to enjoy it and you'll be interested to see where Brandon goes from here."
Here's the official synopsis for Antiviral: "Syd March is an employee at a clinic that sells injections of live viruses harvested from sick celebrities to obsessed fans. Biological communion—for a price. Syd also supplies illegal samples of these viruses to piracy groups, smuggling them from the clinic in his own body. When he becomes infected with the disease that kills super sensation Hannah Geist, Syd becomes a target for collectors and rabid fans. He must unravel the mystery surrounding her death before he suffers the same fate."
