FEARnet, cable television's premier horror, thriller and suspense channel, will give fans an early look at both its new original horror comedy "Holliston," and the second season of the cult hit "Todd & The Book of Pure Evil" at SXSW. Both television shows are slated for panels at the annual music, film, and interactive conference and festival held in Austin, TX. During the panels, the show creators and cast will provide an inside look into the making of the shows, and screen upcoming footage for attendees before it is available anywhere else.
"SXSW has distinguished itself by giving people the unexpected and by bridging the music and film industries," said Peter Block, president, FEARnet. "Likewise, with ‘Holliston', we are debuting a show that you wouldn't, and couldn't, find on any other network and it, too, bends the horror, metal and comedy genres into one big mosh pit."
The "Screaming with Laughter: FEARnet TV's Holliston" panel includes Creator, Director, Actor and genre favorite Adam Green ("Hatchet 1 & 2," "Frozen,"), along with Actor and Executive Producer Joe Lynch ("Knights of Badassdom," "Wrong Turn 2") and FEARnet President and Executive Producer Peter Block on Sunday, March 11, 2012 from 2-3 p.m. The panel will be moderated by Drew McWeeny of Hitfix. "Holliston" is FEARnet's first original scripted television series, and is a riotous and offbeat multi-camera, buddy comedy set in the town of Holliston, MA. Pegged as "The Big Bang Theory" meets "Evil Dead II," "Holliston" shines a light on the post-college life where everything is a struggle, and nothing works out like it's supposed to, with terrifyingly funny results as Adam and Joe struggle to become big-time horror filmmakers and make ends meet. The series, and the SXSW session, reach beyond genre and horror.
"Holliston" also stars Corri English ("Unrest," "The Bedford Diaries," lead singer of Brokedown Cadillac), Laura Ortiz ("The Hills Have Eyes," "Horton Hears A Who"), Dee Snider (Twisted Sister, "Strangeland," radio/television personality) and Oderus Urungus (alien lead singer from legendary heavy metal band "GWAR"). FEARnet television debuts "Holliston" on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at 10:30 p.m. ET, with a special sneak preview event hosted by Green and Co-Star Joe Lynch on Sunday, April 1 at 10 p.m.
"Todd & The Book of Pure Evil," a supernatural comedy that tells the story of a small-town high school kid trying to save the world, will be featured on a panel on Monday, March 12, 2012 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Actors from the series including Alex House ("Todd"), Jason Mewes ("Jimmy") and Co-Creator and Executive Producer Craig Wallace will discuss the show in a no-holds-barred session moderated by "Ain't It Cool News' " inimitable Harry Knowles. The show returns to FEARnet for a second season Tuesday, March 13 at 10 p.m. ET and also stars Maggie Castle, Bill Turnbull, Melanie Leishman and Chris Leavins.
Finally, "Holliston" Creator and Star Adam Green will participate in the "Dread Central" panel "3 R's of Horror: Remakes, Reboots, and Rediscoveries" on Sunday, March 11, 2012 from 5-6 p.m., where he will debut exclusive clips from his upcoming "Holliston" series. The panel will be moderated by KW Low (Co-Founder/GM of Dread Central) and includes panelists Daniel Farrands (Director, Producer, Writer Panic Productions), Mark Ward (VP, Acquisitions Image Entertainment) and Scott Weinberg (Editor/Film Critic FEARnet.com). They will explore what challenges they encountered in making original horror films, and how they convinced the powers-that-be to fund their original horror ideas, rather than sticking to the 3 R's.
